Ivory first was in her father’s arms on April 16th, 1999. Jin Bowen had a very sweet but brief romance with a woman who had introduced herself as Iris. The beautiful radiant woman disappeared just as fast as she had appeared, leaving behind their newborn baby. Bowen had just started his career as a pilot, and as much as he wanted to, he couldn’t raise his little girl by himself, so he trusted her to her parents.

And just like that, Ivory was raised by her grandparents. A couple of Chinese immigrants who had moved to Texas just before their first son was born and had stayed in San Antonio ever since. They raised the demigoddess as their own. She grew up to be a very lively, naughty, and cheerful little girl, which didn’t sit very well with her grandmother. The lady was on the strict side and expected nothing less of perfection from her grandchild, and that was a standard Ivory couldn’t live up to.

Growing up, Ivory was the happiest whenever her father would pick her up from her grandparents’ house and spend a couple of days with her. During summers, he would even take her to work and allow her to spend the flights eating candies while hanging out with the cabin crew. And every now and then, her mother would show up, they would talk for a little bit, and with the blink of an eye, she would be gone again. Ivy, however, never knew her true identity until she was fourteen, and told her all about camp-half blood.

Ivy begged her grandmother to let her go to long-island that summer, but she wouldn’t believe half of it and refused to let her go. Soon after, Ivory’s grandfather became very ill, she couldn’t leave then. Instead of spending summers at the camp, the demigoddess got a job to help her grandparents with the medical bills. Years after, it was the government’s shut down of the camp that prevented her from attending.

Once camp reopened, it was her grandfather's passing that finally persuaded her to finally go. She was sick of her grandmother’s severeness, she was tired of school and exhausted of her state’s poisonous conservatism. She was finally able to make her way to camp, just like her mother had asked her to years ago.
